Financial Controller

Reports to: Sr. Director of Finance

WHAT WE WILL TRUST YOU WITH – and how you will use your strengths. 

  • Oversee all accounting activities ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and procedures. 
  • Analyze financial data and prepare monthly financial reports and statements in accordance with GAAP for internal/ external reporting 
  • Maximize the use of Sage Intacct platform to analyze historical results and forecast future financial performance 
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls and processes to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting and safeguarding of assets 
  • Manage the monthly close process, including journal entries, revenue recognition, project allocations, and other balance sheet and P&L accounts. 
  • Support annual budgeting and planning process, including providing monthly budget vs actual reports to leadership team 
  • Reviews all vendor payments for proper coding and accuracy 
  • Submit semi-monthly payroll and retirement contributions 

 AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE – things that matter most for this role 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; master’s degree is advantageous. 
  • 5+ years progressive experience in accounting roles; nonprofit accounting strongly preferred 
  • Ability to act decisively and work independently without considerable oversight 
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

The Recycling Partnership is a rapidly growing, action-focused nonprofit, overhauling the U.S recycling system and activating a circular economy for packaging. We work on the ground with thousands of communities to transform underperforming recycling programs and tackle circular economy challenges. We work with companies to make their packaging more circular and help them meet their climate and sustainability goals. And we work with government to develop the policy solutions that will address the systemic needs of our residential recycling system.
