Petra Watjen, Chief Financial Officer
Petra Watjen is the CFO of The Recycling Partnership, a national nonprofit dedicated to protecting the planet by fixing recycling and activating a circular economy in the U.S. A strategic thinker who has advised founders and CEOs of middle-market organizations on growth and profitability strategies, Petra has more than 20 years of experience helping organizations successfully navigate transitions, including scaling for rapid, sustainable growth.
Why I Care About Recycling and a Circular Economy
“We humans are an integral part of our environment. The eco-system is not separate from us. I believe that the quality of the environment informs the manner in which we interact with one another and the quality of decisions we make on individual and collective levels. The cleaner and greener the environment, the more likely it is that compassion, empathy, kindness, and respect inform our interactions, priorities, and decisions as individuals and as a collective.”
Personal Passions and Interests
Petra enjoys traveling, hiking, cycling, cooking, music, and friends. She lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, with her husband. Currently between dogs, she has an acute fondness for four-legged furry friends. Although partial to terrier breeds, she hasn’t met a dog (or other animal) she doesn’t love.
