Sam Martinez, Project Development Coordinator

(she/her/hers)

Sam has always had a strong passion for the environment and sustainability. She is a graduate of The University at Albany SUNY where she was a member of the Green Scene sustainability club and a pole vault captain on the school’s track and field team. She worked as a sustainability intern for office furniture company, Humanscale where she worked to save the company $60,000 in waste diversion and recycling efforts.

Why I care about recycling:
Not only is there a lack of access to recycling in the United States but I believe there is an even bigger problem in the lack of understanding people have of recycling and the programs they have in their own communities. We can be doing so much more to benefit the environment if people open their minds to how much more they can be recycling and what their local programs are.

Personal Interest:
Sam spends most of her time at the gym or volunteer coaching for her local club and high school track and field teams. When she is not on the track, you can find her reading a book on the couch with her dog.

Highlights:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography with a minor in Sustainability
