The Recycling Partnership works with communities and recycling facilities, including materials recovery facilities, processors, and secondary processors, across the U.S. to improve access, collections, operations, and processing through a variety of grant and technical assistance opportunities.
Grants for Community Recycling Programs
Residential Curbside Recycling Cart Grants
To advance recycling in communities through the implementation of cart-based curbside recycling
Who can apply: local governments, solid waste authorities, or federally recognized tribes
Multifamily Recycling Program Grants
To advance recycling and increase equity at multifamily properties to develop new and improve existing recycling programs
Who can apply: local governments, solid waste authorities, federally recognized tribes, or private multifamily properties
Drop-Off Recycling Program Grants
To develop and improve facilities and signage at drop off recycling sites
Who can apply: local governments, solid waste authorities, or federally recognized tribes
Michigan Small Community Education Grant Program
To provide recycling education assistance to Michigan small communities
Who can apply: eligible communities, authorities, and organizations in Michigan with less than 10,000 households
Steve Thompson Memorial Grant Program for the Resource Recycling Conference
To provide local recycling professionals with the opportunity to attend the Resource Recycling Conference.
Grants for Processors/Materials Recovery Facilities (MRF)
General MRF Assistance Grants
For equipment manufacturers and MRFs to increase throughput and/or capacity
Who can apply: publicly, privately, and non-profit owned and operated MRFs in the United States
Aluminum Can Recycling Grants
To improve eddy-current separators, robotic sorters, and other equipment and process improvements to capture more cans during the sortation process at MRFs.
Who can apply: publicly, privately, and non-profit owned and operated MRFs in the United States
Polypropylene Recycling Grants
To facilitate new or improved MRFs sortation of polypropylene
Who can apply: publicly, privately, and non-profit owned and operated MRFs in the United States
PET Recycling Grants
To facilitate increased capture and upgraded quality of PET at MRFs, secondary sortation facilities, and PET reclaimers
Who can apply: publicly, privately, or non-profit owned and operated MRFs, secondary sortation facilities, or PET reclaimers. Geographic eligibility is limited to the United States for MRFs and secondary sortation facilities, and eligibility is open to the United States, Canada, and Mexico for PET reclaimers.
