Behavior change is at the heart of everything we do.

Recycling is not just about the materials we recycle.

Once someone has access, recycling, and especially recycling well, does not just happen. It happens when people have the knowledge, confidence, and drive to recycle.

Recycling behavior has been part of The Partnership’s focus from our beginning – from developing our Feet on the Street anti-contamination program to testing the most effective messaging on infocards. And in 2022, the Center for Sustainable Behavior & Impact was created to drive measurable improvement in residential recycling behaviors and boost confidence in the U.S. recycling system. Through research and pilot projects on what works and what doesn’t, learn what steps your community can take to improve recycling.
