Vice President of Sustainability at the Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI)

Member of the Board since May 2022, Scott Breen is Vice President of Sustainability at the Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI). CMI represents U.S. metal can manufacturers and their suppliers. Scott’s accomplishments at CMI include leading the effort to establish aluminum beverage can recycling rate targets and pillars of action to achieve them, publishing articles with other groups to voice support for deposit systems and collaborating with others to launch the Aerosol Recycling Initiative. Scott’s roles prior to CMI were Associate Manager of the Sustainability and Circular Economy Program at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation (Chamber Foundation) and attorney-adviser at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. At the Chamber Foundation, Scott led the Beyond 34 recycling initiative through a pilot and then expansion. Scott also explores various aspects of sustainability as creator and co-host of the Sustainability Defined podcast. Sustainability Defined’s monthly episodes reach thousands of listeners across more than 100 countries and all 50 states.
