Bill brings to The Recycling Partnership more than 20 years of experience providing legal services to tax-exempt organizations, including as primary outside legal counsel to The Partnership. His diverse legal practice includes providing advice regarding organizational and operational issues, complex corporate matters, structuring and implementing joint ventures and new activities, planning for unrelated business income tax issues, addressing charitable contribution techniques and fundraising structures, and creating and implementing strategy for policies and procedures.
As VP of Strategy and Chief Legal Officer, he is responsible for assisting the CEO with developing and executing strategic initiatives for the Partnership. Bill also serves as chief legal counsel for The Partnership and oversees identifying and addressing legal issues, tax, charitable solicitation, charitable organization registrations, human resources, policies and procedures, legal agreements, and corporate governance.
Bill is an adjunct professor at the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland-Marshall School of Law where he teaches classes on nonprofit law. He is co-author of Tax Management Portfolio 450, Tax-Exempt Organizations: Organizational and Operational Requirements. Bill lives in the Cleveland area. When not working, teaching, or writing, he enjoys rooting for Cleveland sports teams and reading biographies and American history.
