Lauren Sherman, Data Engineer

She/Her/Hers

Lauren, a self-proclaimed “math nerd” since childhood, brings experience in databases, programming, and analysis to The Recycling Partnership. She earned her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in computer science from Wake Forest University, with undergraduate minors in mathematics as well as entrepreneurship and social enterprise, before beginning her career in data engineering. She most recently worked at the Solar Energy Industries Association and is looking forward to bringing that perspective of sustainability to her work in the recycling realm. As Data Scientist and Engineer, Lauren is responsible for maintaining, improving, and expanding our data systems, assisting with analysis, and supporting data-driven decision-making.

Why I Care About Recycling and a Circular Economy

“I believe it is everyone’s duty to leave the world a better place than they found it, and depleting the earth’s resources is not the way to do that. Recycling is essential to building a circular economy, and it’s a way everyone can contribute to sustainability.”

Personal Passions and Interests

Lauren lives in Oregon with her very excitable and loving dog, Layla. In her spare time, Lauren can be found reading, stress cleaning, DIY projects, playing four-suit spider solitaire, or putting together jigsaw puzzles.
